The New 2023 Hyundai Tucson
It takes quite a bit of effort to stand out in the compact SUV category. It’s the most popular category in the automotive market today, having surpassed the mid-sized sedan in 2014! When you include luxury brands, there are nearly 40 models for sale in the United States!
The 2023 Hyundai Tucson manages to rise to the top of the class by combining flexibility, reliable power, fuel efficiency, ease of use, and value in one little package. It’s good enough that U.S. News & World Report named it the Best Compact SUV for Families for 2023! Read on to see why!
Performance Features
Under the hood of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson is a single engine option. It’s an all-around winner, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This provides 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, plenty to get the Tucson up to speed and to cruise along on the highway. It’s no sport turbocharged unit, but it is quite peppy around town and offers a quiet highway ride.
Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is offered. With either one, the Tucson provides savings at the pump. Front-wheel drive versions get 25 MPG city and 32 MPG highway, while all-wheel drive versions get 23 MPG city and 28 MPG highway.

Style and Technology
The comfortable and expansive interior of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson is a leader in class, in a number of ways. To begin with, seating for five includes and incredible amount of leg room – 41.3 inches in the front is average, but 41.3 inches in the second row is great even compared to larger midsize SUVs. The seats are wide as well, offering 57.6 inches of shoulder room up front and 56.0 inches in the rear. This spaciousness continues for cargo, with 41.2 cubic feet of cargo with the second row up and 80.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. It’s one of the largest in class, and there’s plenty of room for bulky items! All of this is wrapped in cloth upholstery, with available leather upholstery.
An 8-inch touchscreen display is at the heart of the technology in the 2023 Tucson, and can be upgraded to a 10.25-inch version with navigation. Featuring standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and HD Radio technology, Bluetooth hands-free phone and streaming audio is also standard. Front-row dual USB ports are provided for media and charging, while second-row dual USB ports are available.
Safety
From the base trim, the 2023 Hyundai Tucson offers one of the best safety suites on the market. Standard driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, driver-attention monitoring, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and LED headlights with automatic high beams. A rearview camera is also standard, and now for the 2023 model year, pedestrian and cyclist detection is standard across all trim levels. Surround-view parking camera and a blind-spot camera are available, as is highway driving assist featuring lane centering.

Trim Levels
Five different trim levels are available for the 2023 Hyundai Tucson. These range from the standard upgrades, to sporty and rugged editions to fit into busy lives!
The entry-level SE model features all the standards mentioned already, wrapped in cloth upholstery. The front seats are manually-adjustable, while the rear seats are split-folding. Remote keyless entry and a manual rear liftgate allow easy access. A six-speaker audio system is standard. The SE sits on 17-inch alloy wheels.
If you’re looking for great bang for the buck, the SEL trim is a great place to look. Front seats are heated, and the driver’s seat gets power-adjustability. Proximity keyless entry and a hands-free power liftgate make it easier to get in and out of the vehicle, even when loaded down. This trim features the additional USB ports as well as Qi-compatible wireless device charging. At this level, you also get the Convenience package available, which adds synthetic leather, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and 19-inch wheels.
There are two options to upgrade outside of the standard levels. If you want a sporty version, the N-Line includes the features from the SEL trim with the Convenience package, but with a sleeker exterior appearance thanks to slimmed-down fender flares, a unique grille, a twin-tip exhaust, and more. Inside, genuine leather upholstery features cloth inserts, LED interior lighting and N-Line trim adds ambiance, and a panoramic sunroof opens up the cabin. An 8-speaker Bose stereo is provided for upgraded sound, with the 10.25-inch touchscreen featuring navigation.
On the rugged flip side, the XRT trim also includes the features from the SEL with the Convenience package. Like the N-Line, it gets the 10.25-inch touchscreen featuring navigation, but retains the six-speaker audio system. Inside, the seats get durable H-Tex upholstery. Outside, a rugged look is the focus, with side steps, special side cladding, black-painted front and rear skid plates, and a roof rack. It also provides for towing up to 2000 pounds, thanks to the standard tow hitch.
Genuine leather upholstery highlights the interior of the luxurious Limited trim. Comforts are provided as well – ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and heated rear seats are great for extreme weather conditions. A heated leather-wrapped steering wheel is also provided. The Limited trim gets all the available driver-assistance features, including the rain-sensing windshield wipers and remote-controlled parking assist.
